When traveling, you meet all sorts of interesting people. Many inquire about where you're coming from and especially where you're going to, to which we are only able to reply - “Excellent question.”
When Phill learned that he would be leaving the Coast Guard, many different thoughts about what our future had in store surfaced. In the midst of our wondering, we began thinking about all of the travels we had been dreaming about doing. Rather than looking for jobs and a place to live, what if we embraced our joblessness and homelessness and instead took the time to drive across the United States, visit national parks, take a much-needed tropical vacation and then backpack through Europe?
Be wary of thoughts that come when you're uncertain of your immediate fate. They're unhinged, unpredictable, irresponsible...and come disguised as breathtakingly exciting.
So, here we are, driving (and camping) across the United States, playing in Maui for one week, attending weddings, temping in the Seattle area, enjoying the summertime, and bumming through Europe.
When we return, I imagine we'll be looking for a place to work and live. Or something like that...
